Your Neighbor
Nathan’s family has deep roots in Hawaiʻi. His father and grandfather both graduated from Punahou, while his grandmother graduated from McKinley and later became the first Miss UH Mānoa. Nathan followed in their footsteps, attending Punahou and moving to Makiki in the seventh grade. He grew up in this district, walking to school, swimming at the community pool, playing tennis at Makiki District Park, catching TheBus to study at UH Mānoa, and eating at the same Korean BBQ spot he still goes to today.
Nathan has served on the Makiki Neighborhood Board since 2017, where he listens, shows up, and works side-by-side with neighbors to solve problems. Inspired by his grandmother’s lifelong volunteer work, he believes in taking care of each other through steady, everyday acts of service.
Nathan has devoted his life to civil and volunteer work, including community cleanups along Makiki Stream, efforts to oppose the Ala Wai dam proposal to protect Hālau Kū Māna, assisting with volcano disaster relief on the Big Island, and leading as the current Chair of the Makiki Neighborhood Board.
He’s running for State House because this district deserves better parks, walkable streets, and a community we can all be safe, proud, and comfortable in.
Please get in touch! Nathan wants to hear from you. He wants to know what your priorities are and be a reflection of the community: embodying your values, what you’d like to see, and taking action to build a future together.
