These are the policies that I will push forward as your representative.
Makiki deserves a future where we can all feel safer, have new opportunities, and live easier in the most expensive State.
As your representative I will work on:
Cost of Living
Make life on the islands more affordable:
Give out Keiki-boxes, a large set of childcare products for new families provided by the State
Support our State housing agencies with more funding to construct rent-controlled housing and to hire more staff
Lower the cost of condo insurance by creating a State condo insurance fund
Why is this on my platform?
Politicians talk about K-12, but let’s talk 0-99. All ages. My policies will help everyone, from giving our children the clothes and food they need to start strong with Keiki boxes, giving our young people and families their own housing to thrive, and giving our fixed income seniors stable retirements by lowering their condo insurance. Everyone needs to be able to thrive in this community.
Workforce Development
Create new opportunities:
Give more funding to our medical school, JABSOM, for more instructors and for more classrooms
Give more tax credits and funding for our local film industry
Boost our local construction workforce with DOE engagement to promote trade schools
Why is this on my platform?
We have four public schools in our district that produce a lot of new graduates. A lot of graduates means they need a lot of opportunities to thrive. That’s why I’m making it a priority to give more funding for our medical school to train more doctors, more tax credits to our film industry for our artists, and more awareness for the blue collar jobs that have been ignored. Expanding opportunities means our graduates will thrive.
Public Safety
Make our community safer:
Ensure homeless people are redirected to rehabilitative services or temporary housing
Install more noise and redlight runner cameras throughout the district
Make securing convictions easier for our prosecutors by upgrading and staffing our local DNA testing labs
Why is this on my platform?
We thrive when we feel safe. We need to make Makiki safer for all of us. That means services to move homeless people into the services they need, so we can walk home safely. That means having more traffic cameras, so we don’t have to worry about getting into accidents. That means getting our prosecutors the evidence they need to convict criminals, so EVERYONE is safer.
